Cochin-Kaladi-Munnar-Thekkady-Kumarakom-Cochin

 

Day 01 : Arrive at Cochin.
On arrival at Cochin meet our representative and transfer to hotel. Afternoon go for local sightseeing around Cochin by visiting JEWISH SYNAGOGUE that was built in 1568 AD. The Great Scrolls of the Old Testament, the copper plates in which the grants of privilege made by the Kochi rulers were recorded and the exquisite Chinese hand-painted tiles are of interest.


ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, this Protestant church was originally built by the Portuguese in 1510 AD and is believed to be the oldest church built by the Europeans in India. lt is here the remains of the inveterate traveler, Vasco da Gama were initially buried and 14 years later, his mortal remains were taken to Portugal.

DUTCH PALACE Its interiors are decorated with murals from the Ramayana and there are some lively displays of royal costumes and palanquins.

CHINESE FISHING NETS, The Chinese Fishing nets that line the sea-front and exhibit a mechanical method of catching fish by local fishermen in Fort Kochi. Said to have been brought from China by traders of Kubala Khan's Court, they are used at high tide. Later back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel, Cochin.

Day 02 : Cochin - Guruvayour - Kaladi - Cochin.
Morning after breakfast proceed to Guruvayur, famous for the Guruvayur temple which is many centuries old and one of the most important in Kerala. The temple is famous as a site for pilgrimage and also a cultural centre as it is one of the centre-points along which Kerala literature and art-forms have been developed and also visit Kaladi, an important pilgrimage center since it was the birth place of Sri Adi Sankara, one of India's foremost philosopher saints who preached the monistic or 'advaita' philosophy and Athirampilly, Vazachal water falls and back to Cochin. Overnight stay at Hotel, Cochin

Day 03 : Cochin - Kodanadu - Munnar.
Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Kodanadu, a forest elephant care centre. Here you can see baby elephants rescued from the forests being cared for. Elephants are also trained here. Later proceed to Munnar. Munnar is today best known for being one of the world's highest tea plantations. The main town has seen better days, but the cool mountain air, craggy hillsides and relaxing atmosphere makes this an ideal location to relax away from the bigger cities. Rest of the day leisure at Hotel and for local use. Overnight stay at Hotel, Munnar.

Day 04 : Munnar.
Morning go for local sightseeing around Munnar by visiting MATTUPETTY, Situated at a height of 1700 Mts , Mattupetty is famous for its highly specialised dairy farm, the Indo-swiss live stock project. Over 100 varietes of high yielding cattle are reared here. Visitors are allowed into three of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm. The Mattupetty lake and dam , just a short distance from the farm, is a very beautiful picnic spot.

The sprawling Kundala tea plantations and the KUNDALA DAM, first concrete dam and the lake are other attractions in the vicinity. Speed Launch and slow speed motor boats are available on hire.
RAJAMALAI, The natural habitat of the Niligiri tahr (kind of mountain goat known as ibex) , Rajamala is 2695 Mts above sea level. Half the world's population of the rare mountain goat or tahr which is fast becoming extinct, is now found here.The Niligiri tahr in Rajamala are now to be found in small herds found in Eravikulam-Rajamala region,
ECHO POINT, This scenic place gets its name from the natural echo phenomenon here. Later back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel, Munnar.

Day 05 : Munnar to Thekkady.
Morning check out from hotel and proceed to Thekkady. On arrival check into hotel. Afternoon visit Idukki Arch Dam, the world's second and Asia's first arch dam, constructed across the Kuravan and Kurathi hills that lies close to the Cheruthoni barrage and also enjoy the Spice plantation Tour, Over twelve varieties of spices including ginger, garlic, cardamom, vannilla, pepper, cinnamon, turmeric, coffee, tea, clove and nutmeg is cultivated in Thekkady and its neighbouring villages. Back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel, Thekkady.

Day 06 : Thekkady.
Morning go for local sightseeing around Thekkady by visiting The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Lying close to the plantations, in the rich jungles of Periyar in Thekkady is one of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife reserves - the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Spread across 777 sq. km, of which 360 sq. km is thick evergreen forest, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978. Noted for its geo-morphological diversity of wildlife and scenic beauty. The splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River adds to the charm of the park. This is the only sanctuary in India where you can have the unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat on the lake. The greatest attraction of Periyar remains the large herds of wild elephants that come down to the lake's edge. Back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel, Thekkady.

Day 07 : Thekkady to Kumarakom.
Morning checkout from Hotel and proceed to Kumarakom. On arrival check into resort. When nature is all you need to recuperate, Kumarakom is undoubtedly the most invigorating, fascinating paradise in Kerala, God's own country. The slender coconut palms standing here, there and everywhere, its never ending paddy fields, meandering lagoons and backwaters, mangroves nesting birds of a hundred varieties can peacefully calm and invigorate your mind with renewed inspiration for your vocation and life. Kumarakom the charming emerald peninsula jutting into the ever-effervescent Vembanad Lake takes you into the heart of the scenic lake where you'll come across plenty of traditional country crafts, boats and canoes. The fresh water of the lake runs into the mainland making a labyrinth of lagoons, brooks, canals and waterways. The backwater houses a variety of species of both fauna and flora. Rest of the day leisure at the resort. Overnight stay at Resort, Kumarakom.

Day 08 : Kumarakom.
Morning Pay a visit to the picturesque Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls Located 18km from Kottayam town, 2 km down a mud lane from Kumarakom is this beautiful picnic spot where streams tinkle as they make their way through the landscape and waters roar as they cascade down the mountains from a height of 100 ft. Pathiramanal (sands of midnight), an enchanting island on the lake, can be accessed by boat from here. The island can be accessed only by boat. A cruise along the Vembanad Lake is the best way to experience the sanctuary. Back to Hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel, Kumarakom.

Day 09 : Kumarakom to Alleppey
Morning check out from the resort and proceed to Alleppey. Upon arrival we board our houseboat, converted from a Kettavallum, or traditional rice barge, and sail the beautiful backwaters of Kerala. This large aquatic area is a vast network of lagoons, lakes, rivers and canals, and the people who live in this region have created their own distinct lifestyles. From our comfortable houseboats we witness the peaceful way of life on these amazing waterways, and our overnight stay on board will be a real highlight of our holiday.

Day 10 : Departure
Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Cochin Airport for Drop.
